Here are a few of the questions that are asked the most in the CNA Travelers Discussion group on Facebook

Frequently Asked Questions | CNA Travelers

01

How much experience is usually needed to start traveling?

Most facilities will require a minimum of two years of experience, however some CNA's have traveled with as little as a year and a half. Orientation for travelers is very minimal, sometimes as  little as 3-5 days. Make sure to really master your skills as a certified nursing assistant, so you can hit the ground running. Facility orientations are mainly focused on "Policy & Procedures", using charting system and basic things like that.

02

What questions should I ask in my interview?

Being prepared in an interview with a facility is just as important as asking your recruiter the correct questions about a contract. Read our blog posts on the things to ask.

03

Can my family travel with me?

It is a little more difficult to travel as a CNA, if your family will be traveling with you. It is not impossible. A lot of times housing is going to be provided (accommodation for one), if travel is provided agency will only provide for only the traveler (expense of family traveling will be the responsibility of the traveler)

04

What is the length of the contracts?

Travel contract lengths vary from as few as four weeks to as many as 13-26 weeks. Shorter or longer contracts can sometimes be negotiated.

05

What kind of experience do I need?

Depending on the type of facility experience that may be required could be hospital experience, hospice experience or long term care experience.

06

How can I transfer my CNA license to another state?

Some of the terminology that is used sometimes states to "transfer" CNA license to another state. In actuality, when you are licensed in your "home" state, and listed in good standing on the state CNA Registry there, you are able to apply for 'Reciprocity.' This just means that you can apply for a license in another state, if you fulfill the requirements of the state CNA Registry, and still stay licensed in your home state.
